To live in the fulness God has for us

Amos – they call him the prophet of the plumbline

It is interesting because we are talking about 30, 60 & 100-fold.

Mark 4:13-20 (NIV)

Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? 14 The farmer sows the word. 15 Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. 16 Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18 Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19 but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”

This Scripture is applicable to the good soil. It is when the seed was sown into the good soil that they reaped 30, 60 or 100.

  1. Some seed along the path
  2. Seed sown in rocky places
  3. Seed sown among thorns
  4. Seed sown in good soil

Interpretation of dreams:

The disciples asked Jesus, “Why do You always talk to us in parables?”  He said, “Because it is for you to know the Kingdom of God.” After He said that, He tells them the parable of the sower.

When words are spoken, you are the soil.

  1. Along the path: as soon as they hear it, satan comes and twisted it and bring lies
  2. In rocky places: you are so glad that you have it, but then trouble comes, and perseverance comes. The enemy comes and steal the seed and twisted the seed.
  3. Thorns: deceitfulness, unforgiveness and bitterness. The moments the seed is sown, it is through all these filters of these thorns & it is impossible to hear the word correctly. But if you want the Lord to deal with it, it is good soil. Then it comes in good soil.
  4. Good soil: if you just hear the word and accept it, it produces a crop. Some 30, some 60 & some 100.

Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

The key: teachability.

Even though there may be stones or thorns on our road, our God’s grace and His mercy are so big that He can come, clean it for you to have a good soil. If your heart is pure, to sow and reap is no challenge. Because you understand the heart of the Father, is a farmer. He sows.

Hebrews 6:7-9 (NIV)

Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. 8 But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

9 Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do with salvation.

Even though there may be thorns, even though there may be rocks, at the end of the day the Lord has planned for you good things. And this is what this week is all about.

Luke 8 (NIV)

16 No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. 17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. 18 Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.”
